This design has a reduced water absorption rate and creates huge air pockets — designed for irrigation systems used frequently. Hydro expanded clay pebbles feature an outer ceramic layer that limits water uptake, making them ideal for intensive irrigation hydroponic growing systems. Despite their density, the Hydrocorn clay pebbles will float in flood-and-drain systems. The right pebbles for fast-cycle recirculating hydroponic builds.

Who it's not for:

For passive systems (hand-watering, less-frequent irrigation), standard absorbent clay pebbles hold more water between waterings — better than these for less-active setups. For coco-based growing, use a coco medium. Wash pebbles before first use — even premium pebbles have some manufacturing dust. Between grows, wash with diluted bleach or H₂O₂ to clean root residue. Pair with coco or pure pebble setups depending on grow style.
