Typical mains-powered electrical time-switches aren't designed to switch the high currents required by hydroponic grow-lights — that's where contactors come in. Use a contactor to switch power output to multiple grow lights reliably and without risk. The Smart Grow 2-Way switches any 1 or 2 lamp system up to a total load of 13 amps. Who it's not for:

For 4+ lamp setups, step up to the Smart Grow 4-Way Relay (£30) or Maxiswitch Powerhouse 4/6/8-way contactors. Mains installation should be done by someone competent with electrical work. Check total wattage against the 13A rating — 1 × 600W = 2.5A approximately, so 1-2 lamps fits easily; bigger setups need bigger relays. Not required for LED or smaller lamps without HID inductive surge characteristics.
