HPS and Metal Halide HID lamps require enormous switch-on current — nearly double the load needed for running — and most 24-hour timers aren't designed to handle that surge. The Smart Grow 4-Way Relay solves this: your timer signals the relay, the relay switches the heavy load. Protects your timer from frying, protects your lamps from timer-induced flicker, and consolidates 4 lamps under one control point.

Who it's not for:

For larger lamp setups (6+ lamps), step up to Maxiswitch Powerhouse 6-way, 8-way, or MDF 16-way contactor boards. Mains installation should be done by someone competent with electrical work if hardwiring rather than plug-in. Check total wattage against the relay's rated capacity — don't exceed. Not required for LED or CMH lighting at lower wattages — those don't have the same surge current demands.
